佛羅里達州West Boca高中、前途一片光明的高三女生史黛芬妮‧庫雷巴(Stephanie Kuleba)22日為矯正乳房不對稱和乳頭內陷，進行隆乳手術時，對麻醉藥產生致命反應，雖然緊急送往德瑞醫學中心(Delrey Medical Center)，但24小時後不幸死亡。

ABC新聞網站25日報導，醫生們認為，死因是惡性高熱症(malignant hyperthermia)。這是一種相當罕見的新陳代謝症狀，由某種麻醉藥引起。患者的心跳率和代謝率會急劇加快，造成體溫上升達華氏112度。

ABC News原文是inverted areola（乳暈內陷）而非inverted nipple（乳頭內陷）。不過美國當地確實有其他報導說是inverted nipple。

根據Stephanie Kuleba的家庭律師Roberto Stanziale的說詞，Stephanie Kuleba已經年滿18歲。
